It was through the police character in 'Ben Johnson' that Mani became an independent star who could draw initial crowds. But after this film, he never did any serious roles in the police uniform.

Now five years after the great success of 'Ben Johnson', Mani is again donning the role in a new film 'Kerala Police'. Directed by Chandrasekharan who has been keeping away from films for a decade, the movie will be produced by D.K.M. Group, Bangalore.

Nedumudi Venu, Innocent, Siddhique, Vijayaraghavan, Shammy Thilakan, Augustine, Suraj, Aishwarya and Muktha are also the part of the cast. Scripted by Vinnoo Narayan, the film will start in a month’s time.
