Kalabham is a musical love story, which also features the last songs set to music by the late maestro Ravindran. The film presents three young stars in the lead including Manikuttan (Boyfriend fame), Arun and Tamil hero Bala.
 
The film presents the story of Lakshmi Narayanapuram--a  Brahmin's village, pious and peaceful as usual. Sivarama Bhagavathar is the temple priest at Narayanapuram temple. He is also a renowned musician. Sivakami his only daughter, is the most beautiful girl in the village, who is admired by many. Parthasarathy, the second priest at the temple and an young lad always had an eye for Sivakami, falls deeply in love with her but has no intention to reveal himself. Another person who desperately wants to have Sivakami for his own is Venkidi, the uncrowned head of the village. He controls everything in the village and don't even likes anybody from outside to come over to Lakshmi Narayanapuram.
 
At this juncture , Arjun comes to the village with some true political intentions, send by someone to sell propaganda. He comes to the house of Sivarama Bhagavathar seeking his advise on music lessons, amidst his mission as a camouflage. There he meets Sivakami, who gradually fall for him. Arjun, who has a mellifluous voice also uses his music to draw the village's grace towards him. As their relation became public and the Sivarama Bhagavathar became devastated  on the developments, Arjun and Sivakami decides to move off and find ways for their own.But the society and their illogical institutions began to spoil the ways and days of the couple as they tries to sort out the mishappenings.

The film produced in the banner of Avantika pictures is produced by Dr. N.R.Harikumar and is directed by Anil of the Anil Babu fame. The film scripted by Biju Vattappara contains the last five songs scored by the late music director Ravindran in the lyrics by Vayalar Sarathchandra Varma and S.Ramesan Nair.

Navya Nair plays Sivakami in this another heroine centric film. Thilakan does the role of Sivarama Bhagavathar. Tamil actor Bala makes his debut in Malayalam as Arjun and Manikuttan plays the role of Parthasarathy. The film will also see the debut of a new villain in Anish John. Jagathy, Kalpana ,Gayathri, Bhavani Mohan and Baburaj plays the other prominent roles in the film. The film shot in the neighbourhood of Thenkasi will grace the theatres before Onam.
