Kajal Aggarwal has played the mastermind of a scam in 'Mosagallu', which will hit the screens on March 19. In this interview, she talks about the film and how her role is 'hatke' in it.
The actress also goes on to talk about her upcoming movies, including Megastar Chiranjeevi's 'Acharya'. She also shares a thing or two about her life post marriage with Gautham Kitchlu.
A unique story
The whole story of 'Mosagallu' is about a sister and a brother. So, I am a lead actress in the film. When I am getting a meaty role, of course, I would be interested. I don't have action scenes in the movie. I am yet to watch the movie. I am happy that a legendary actor like Mohan Babu garu cried after watching the movie. We must have done something right.
Shooting in real locations
When Vishnu is on set, he is not a producer anymore. We shot the film in real locations. At the same time, it was very comfortable. I got a chance to try something new by doing the film. I have got quite a few scenes with Navdeep in the movie. The film is quite fast-paced. There is no boring moment.
A brother-sister story
The brother-sister duo, played by myself and Vishnu, are the main actors of the scam in the film. We shot in the suburbs of Hyderabad, at Golkonda, on a set, etc. The lead characters hail from Hyderabad.
Not a preachy film
This is a pan-India film. It feels nice because you are reaching out to a wider set of audience. 'Mosagallu' is not a preachy film. I wouldn't mind doing a negative role if it is really challenging.
A scam in 'Mosagallu'
The scam in 'Mosagallu' happened because of a greedy brother-sister duo. I have been duped online a couple of times. I lost a few thousands of rupees due to shopping on fake sites, thanks to which my father shouted at me. I don't mind donating money how much ever I want to. But I don't like losing money to fakery or greed.
Life during lockdown
After marriage, it hasn't been easy to strike a work-life balance. During the lockdown, I got to spend time with my parents. I cooked, I cleaned, I spent time on myself, I did different sorts of online classes, I ate healthily, I ate only home food...
Upcoming movies
I am currently doing films that I had committed to do in 2019. After I am done with the current set of projects, I will be selective.
I am doing four films, two each in Telugu and Tamil. In Telugu, I am doing Chiranjeevi sir's 'Acharya' and a film opposite Nagarjuna sir. I am in talks for a few other projects. I am yet to sign on the dotted line.
Push yourself
In any profession, you would become stagnate if you don't update yourself. You have to put yourself under pressure. I like versatility and accepting challenges. I am okay to take risks. Sometimes, it goes well. At other times, it doesn't.
Dream role
I want to do a full-fledged mythological role. I want to do more love stories. I love comedy and I love making people laugh.
OTT debut
I am going to turn a host for an OTT platform. The announcement will be made later this week. I am hosting something that I love, by the way.
My husband irritates me that way
My husband is not a morning person. He is very slow in the mornings. On the other hand, I wake up with a spring in the foot. I jump out of bed. If we decide to exercise, he takes too much time to get ready. I can't stand it. When I wake up, I am out of the door in 3 minutes. He takes 45 minutes. I get irritated.
I am not able to do Surya Namaskars 150 times daily after marriage. I am not finding the time. But I will restart it soon.
A tryst with Chiranjeevi
My husband is not used to visiting film sets. He found it very strange when he saw me on the sets of 'Acharya'. Chiranjeevi sir was very sweet to us. My husband was touched. He likes Ram Charan (because of 'Magadheera'), Rana Daggubati, and Tarak.
No to stereotyping
Typecasts are reducing in our industry. People are trying all sorts of things. Typecasts are the same world over. I think it's a very personal thing as to how you break the mould. It's like upgrading yourself.
Doing a smoking scene
I have got asthmatic bronchitis in real life. If someone smokes in my presence, I would have to take a nebulizer. For a role, I have smoked once. I had to take medicine immediately after that.
'Acharya' is a pucca Chiru movie
Working with Chiranjeevi sir on 'Acharya' has been a pleasure. It's a totally Chiru sir movie. It's not my movie. It's his movie. I hope to work with all the big stars I have worked with, again.
Helping out people
If you can do something positive in your personal capacity, it would be great. I believe in Karma and believe in giving back to society.
How marriage happened
I and Gautham had been very good friends before marriage for years. We were not dating. But during the lockdown, we wanted to take the friendship to the next level. We couldn't meet often due to the lockdown and we realized that we couldn't live without meeting each other. This is when we decided to get married after consulting our respective parents. I couldn't be happier.
