Ammtoje Maan's film Kafila starring Sunny Deol is moving fast towards completion. The film is about illegal immigrants. It is based on the Malta Boat tragedy that happened in 1996 that cost the lives of 407. The causalities were 170 from India, 88 from Pakistan and 149 from Srilanka.

All these people were illegal immigrants who drowned in the Malta- Sicily channel when their boat collided with a ship. The film's current schedule is on in Amritsar where Sunny Deol is shooting and is expected to finish soon.

Search is on for a suitable location to shoot the most pivotal part of the film, which is a 15-minute sequence to be shot on a ship. Ironically there are fewer chances that the sequence will be shot in sea. Deol plays the savior in the film that saves many lives in the incident.

Sana Pakistani actress is playing the female lead opposite Sunny Deol. She plays an Afghani character. Another Pakistani actress Mona Lisa is playing the role of an Indian. The film attempts at showing the pains and trials that immigrants go through in their lives.
