The screening process of films for the 64th National Awards is presently underway. All the films that have been screened to the Central Board of Film Certification in the year 2016 and applied for the awards have will be watched by the jury.

First the films will be watched by all juries set up at the regional level. And all the regional juries will create a short list from all the films that have been submitted and the films in that short list will be watched by the National Jury.

As of now the Regional juries have completed watching the films and they have sent the list to the National Jury which is expected to start watching the films in a few days from now and finally select the winners of awards under all categories.

We learn from a reliable source that director Balaji Sakthivel who debuted with the the classic film 'Kadhal' and went on to make critically acclaimed films like 'Kalloori' and 'Vazhakku En 18/9' has been selected as one of the jury members.

It is worth recalling that veteran director, music director, lyricist and singer Gangai Amaren was one of the jury members of National awards last year.
