Kadhal Mannan- The biography film of South Indian cinema’s legendary actor Gemini Ganesan is produced by Dr. Kamala Selvaraj under her banner Alamelu Creations. This one is a feature length film running for about 90 minutes and is a docudrama kind. The first 45 minutes of the film runs as a short film that starts from the birth of the actor in Pudhukottai- a rural province in British India. Then it moves on with his early life as a production coordinator in Gemini Studios under the celebrated producer plus director S S Vasan until he moves to the silver screen.

The latter part of the biography contains never before seen footage and rare pictures of the actor’s early stage. Interviews of actors Kamal Haasan, Sathyaraj, Sivakumar, Prabhu, Charu Haasan, producers AVM Saravanan, Muktha Srinivasan, Cho- Ramasamy and directors K. Balachandar, K S Ravikumar, K Balaji, Chitralaya Gopu are used. Singer from his era P B Srinivas, lyricist Valee and Vairamuthu, his co-artists like Sowcar Janaki, Anjali Devi, Saroja Devi, K R Vijaya have also shared views on him. Words from our CM Kalaignar M Karunanidhi and other close ones of the actor are also part of docu.

This memoir contains songs and action sequences that are re-enactments and scene recreations from the films which the actor had worked. The specialty of the film is that no black and white or sepia tone has been used but, a specific colour palette has been used. Moreover ‘Kadhal Mannan’ has been shot on Super 35mm film format with live sound.

The screen play adaptation, screenplay, and direction are taken care by M Venkatesan, who is an ad filmmaker from Chennai. Kalaimamani V Dhayanban scores the music while Selvakumar handles the camera.
