Kachchi Sadak
In the past there have been number of films that have been made to depict the stories of youth who have strayed and reached the point of no return. But what about some of those young men who were not born criminals but graduated to petty crimes, then left it for a better future ahead but then had to embrace it again, though for a noble cause.
Doesn't it become a rough terrain for them to walk on? Something which is akin to a 'kacchi sadak'?
Randhir [Rahul Singh] was one such young guy who was just one of those numerous innocent kids looking forward to a bright future ahead. Unfortunately for him, his childhood was marred by the fact that when his widowed mother named Lakshmi [Madhoo] remarried, it resulted in a torrid time for both of them. Though Lakshmi took this step inspite of social pressure against their decision in order to secure her and Randhir's future, the unthinkable happened as her husband Shyamlal [Mukesh Tiwari] proved to be just the opposite of what he seemed at the beginning.
Completely ignored and ridiculed by his step father, Randhir hit upon the streets and grew up to become a part of the liquor trade. A job where he encountered numerous criminals and had to himself indulge in crominal activities, Randhir started walking on a road that led to nowhere.
Until he meets Julie [Parmita Katkar], a young yet mature girl who showed him the right path. In love with Julie, Randhir soon decided to change his ways decides to leave the world of crime behind.
But would crime leave him so easily?
At a crucial juncture of his life enters Sumitra Devi [Reema Lagoo], a social worker turned politican who wanted his help in helping her win elections where she was pitted against Hari Om Jaiswal [Sharat Saxena]. A MLA who also indulges into the liquor business, he knew how to do his work done - legally or illegally. To counter an opposition like this she wanted someone young to take it on and there seemed to be no one other than Randhir who was best suited for this job.
Since Randhir himself detested the liquor business now, he decided to lend support to Sumitra Devi and chose to flex his muscles yet again since it all seemed to be a noble cause.
But would this move of his backfire on him?
During elections, a mishap results in a death and Randhir finds himself behind the bars in Jodhpur Central Jail. Soon he finds himself face to face with the rival goons who want to finish him off by all means. Other than his past enemies, he also has to contend with Jailor Hasan Kairanvi [Amrish Puri] who is honest but is sure about his belief that criminals could be never be reformed. With utmost hatred for those locked up in the prison, he was a tough taskmaster.
Randhir is trapped from all corners. Within the jail he finds no support. His rivals are there too to kill him off. In the meanwhile there are also indications that he would have to suffer a long sentence in the jail.
He wants to reform but there seems to be no way out.
What would he to? Will he be ever able to walk out free? Would he be able to prove his innocence? Will the world of crime allow him to walk away from it?
Above all, will he be able to find a better path and steer away from this 'kachchi sadak'?
Also starring Rahul Dev, Aman Verma, Govind Namdeo, Tinu Anand, Anand Jog and Mithun Chakravorty in a very special appearance as 'Dargah Qawaal' at the universally worshipped shrine of Ajmer Sharif, 'Kachchi Sadak' is produced by Rohitashv and directed by Sanjay D. Singh. The film is slated for release this Friday i.e. September 15th.
