Superstar Rajinikanth has decided to postpone the release of Kabali which is lined up ahead of Tamil Nadu general elections. The film which was scheduled to release on April 14 coinciding with Tamil Nadu New Year will now hit the screens only after the polls. We hear, Rajini doesn`t want to take any chance to pit his film during the poll fray and has made up his mind to schedule the release only after May.

Directed by PA Ranjith, Kabali is the story of an ageing don who comes all out to find his kidnapped daughter, played by Dhansika. The AR Rahman musical also features Radhika Apte in a crucial role. The film`s shooting is wrapped up in Malaysia and the post production formalities are in full swing.

Looks like the Tamil Nadu politics have turned out to be a real killjoy of sorts for Rajinikanth`s fans. An official statement from the makers is awaited.
