It has been one year since the announcement of 'Kabali' and director Pa.Ranjith has been in the good book of Rajinikanth even before that. The relationship between the duo goes beyond their profession and films. Both of them are voracious readers and have exchanged books. They even discuss politics whenever they get time.
Ranjith revealed to IndiaGlitz, what are the books he recommended to the much loved actor.
"Rajini sir is a staunch god believer and I am an atheist. So we generally discuss about politics and books. I recommended books related to political ideologies such as Communism and Ambedkarism to him. While his stay in USA he was eager to read 'Thai' novel (Tamil translation of Maxim Gorkey's Russian novel 'Mother') and Soundarya inquired with me about it. I gave books like 'Asurargal' and 'Gowravargal' for him to read. These are iconoclastic books that will shake our long held believes. 'Jaathikalai Ozhippadhu Eppadi' (Annihilation of caste) written by Dr.B.R.Ambedkar is another book I shared with him.
Since the film is about Malaysian Tamils, he showed immense interest in understanding their problems. In the shooting spot he used to keep talking with them. Whenever he does not have shot, he will call anybody and talk with them. He will chat often with Ramalingam anna (Art Director), John Vijay Anna and Dinesh. He will narrate spiritual stories to them. With me he will talk about Tamil Nadu and Indian politics."
We hope the duo share the same equation for a long period.
