It has become the norm in Kollywood today for persons to file plagiarism cases against the directors of big films that too at the time of their releases. One John Charles claiming to be a filmmaker filed a case against director K.V. Anand in the Madras High Court stating that he narrated the story of his film 'Saravedi' to him a couple of years back. He further alleged that when the trailer came out he was shocked to find that there are similarities with his story.
The Madras High Court after hearing the case has dismissed it due to insufficient evidence and has cleared all decks for 'Kaappaan' to have a smooth release on September 20th. The multistarrer film produced by Lyca Productions has the dream cast of Mohan Lal, Suriya, Arya, Sayyeshaa, Samuthirakani, Boman Irani and Poorna.
