Kaappaan

Last seen in the heist comedy Thaanaa Serndha Koottam, versatile actor Suriya has been busy shuttling between his two upcoming films, the Selvaraghavan directorial NGK and the KV Anand directorial Kaappaan. While the former has Suriya in a political avatar and is expected to wrap shoot within this month, the latter, which is the third collaboration of KV Anand and Suriya after Ayan and Maattrraan, was speculated to have Suriya as an NSG commando.

Previously referred to as Suriya 37, the first look of the much-anticipated project was revealed on eve of New Year, with two special posters, revealing the title as Kaappaan. While director KV Anand had initially conducted a poll on Twitter letting the audience choose among the titles Meetpaan, Kaappaan and Uyirkaa, with Uyirkaa winning the poll, Kaappaan has been selected as the title of this Suriya starrer. Bankrolled by Lyca Productions, Kaappaan also stars Sayyeshaa,Samuthirakani and Boman Irani, and has music by Harris Jayaraj, who unites with KV Anand after Anegan (2015).

The first look poster of the movie had Suriya in a dapper look with a thick moustache and an army cut, with the legendary Mohanlal and Arya in the background, and snipers. The second look poster had an armed Suriya along with snipers on a hunt, sporting a bearded look. Both the posters and the title Kaappaan clearly confirm the earlier speculations that Suriya plays an NSG commando. A leaked still from the sets of the movie had revealed that Lalettan plays the Indian Prime Minister, in a character named Chandrakant Varma, and the handsome hunk Arya is expected to play the principal antagonist.

With the tagline of Kaappaan reading "Your savior is someone else's killer", it is to be seen whom Suriya is on a mission to save, and whom he faces as the threat in his mission, and whether he overcomes the obstacles to complete his mission. With KV Anand being known for his interesting, racy screenplays and plot twists, one can certainly be assured, this Kaappaan is on a mission to entertain.
