‘Kaaka Muttai’directed by Manikandan and jointly produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and Vetrimaaran’s Grassroot Film Company has won the Best Feature Film, Audience Choice and Best actors Grand jury award, for Ramesh and Vignesh at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles. ‘Kaaka Muttai’ also got the National Award for best Child Actors to Ramesh and Vignesh apart from getting a standing Ovation at the 39th Toronto International Film Festival.
Real life brothers Vignesh and Ramesh have played the lead roles in 'Kaaka Muttai', which is about two street urchins who go on a journey to taste their first pizza. "When Vetrimaran sent me the script, I just read 10 pages and accepted to do the film," Dhanush has said while talking about the film. Ishwaryaa Rajesh has done a bold role of a mother of the two children in the film in which Simbu also makes a cameo appearance. Music is by G.V. Prakash Kumar, cinematography by Manikandan and editing by the late Kishore TE. The film is all set to hit the screens on the 5th of June.
There has long been a notion that art films or films that win awards will have low production values and will not be entertaining
