I feel the pride of a father to K Balachander - Kamal Haasan's tribute on 90th birthday

On the doyen of Tamil cinema K. Balachander's 90th birth anniversary, his favorite find Kamal Haasan has paid rich tributes. He has written "Mr.K.Balachander. A mere name with fame that I heard as a teenager. Who would have thought he would take many roles in the life of an actor like me. Benefactor, mentor, collaborator, father & now when I think of his child like energy, I feel the pride of a father. My salute to this important son of Indian Cinema."

Kamal has shared further on a video that he is lucky to have had the guidance of KB as he is used to call him and says he cannot forget the moment he saw him for the first time when Gemini Ganesan introduced him to the legend during the shooting of the film 'Velli Vizha'.

Kamal also takes pride that the man who taught him how to deliver dialogues in the end got to speak dialogues written by him in 'Uttama Villain'. He revealed that for many years he nurtured the dream of directing K. Balachander and his guru granted him that wish in his last days as he passed away a few weeks after dubbing for the film in 2014.

Kamal as an adult hero has acted in several film directed by K. Balachander and never hesitated even to make cameo appearances. KB's last film with Kamal as hero was 'Unnal Mudiyum Thambi'' released in 1988 and Kamal also made a cameo appearance in 'Paarthale Paravasam' the second last film of the Iyakkunar Sigaram.
