Jyothirmayi bats for women

Mollywood actress Jyothirmayi, who is popular in Kollywood thanks to films such as 'Naan Avan Illai' and 'Vedigundu Murugesan', has become the brand ambassador of a Kerala government's initiative to protect the rights of women.

Titled 'Thantedam Gender Fest', the event is organized by the Department of Social Welfare in association with various women's organizations all over the State. I am happy to be associated with this, Jyothirmayi says.

Women empowerment is essential for the strengthening of family, society and the country, the 'Thalainagaram' actress says, adding: Women always have to work harder than men to prove themselves. But I am sure they can excel in any field.

The 10 day-long festival organized by the Social Welfare Department to provide a platform for the convergence of various activities for women, concluded a couple of days ago. It was inaugurated in Kozhikode by Bihar Minister for Social Welfare Parveen Amanulla.
