Actress Jyothika who was last seen on screen in movies like Ratchasi and Jackpot was supposed to have a release on March 27, with Ponmagal Vandhaal which had been impacted by the Coronavirus lockdown.

However, later it was revealed that Suriya's 2D Entertainment which has produced Ponmagal Vandhaal had sold the streaming rights of the movie to Amazon prime for a fancy price and that the movie will have a direct OTT release skipping theatres.

While it was initially said Ponmagal Vandhaal will have its digital premiere in May first week, the latest news making the rounds is that this movie directed by debutant JJ Frederick will have its digital premiere on May 25 on eve of Ramzan festival, and an official announcement is expected soon. Ponmagal Vandhaal also stars Parthiban, K Bhagyaraj, Pandiarajan, Thiagarajan and Prathap Pothan.
