With an order by President Ram Nath Kovind, the creation of a separate High Court for Andhra Pradesh has now become a reality. The HC will start functioning from 1 January 2019. It's headquartered at Amravati. This one is India's 25th high court.
Justice Ramesh Ranganathan will be the Chief Justice. The strength of the court is 15 judges.
The High Court in Hyderabad will now be Telangana High Court. "Ten judges, who were part of the common HC of AP and Telangana, will now be the judges of the latter HC," the order says.
