When asked about the decision of the Election Commission (EC) to allot the erstwhile AIADMK’s frozen party name, flag and ‘Two-Leaves’ symbol to the ruling AIADMK headed by the OPS-EPS combine, Tamil Nadu chief-minister Edapadi K. Palaniswami has said that ‘justice has prevailed’ with the help of the Almighty.
It appeared that the chief-minister apparently had prior intimation that the verdict of the EC would be in their favour. Addressing a press-meet, the chief-minister was asked by a scribe whether he thought the party's 'friendly attitude' towards the ruling BJP at the Centre was the reason for getting a positive verdict from the Election Commission of India.
"It’s a wrong notion to say that the Centre was behind the verdict delivered by the EC. We were asked to furnish proof in the form of affidavits/documents with the EC and w did so over a period of time. As we provided sufficient proof and evidences in the form of voluminous documents and affidavits and offered necessary explanation during interrogation, the verdict has been awarded in our favour," he explained.
"More than 90% of the party's functionaries are with us and we had the maximum MLAs and MPs too. It's a special day for us as we have got a favourable verdict from ECI due to Almighty’s grace," concluded the chief-minister. Meanwhile, Dinakaran's Karnataka supporter Pugazhendi said there was some 'foulplay' involved as the chief-minister appeared to have had ‘advance’ information about the verdict.
