Contrary to earlier reports, the Justice Arumuga Swamy Commission of Inquiry has not yet commenced its inquiry yesterday to probe the mysterious demise of former chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa.

It is said that the Judge had served notices to 15 individuals including Sasikala and others at the Poes Garden residence of the former chief-minister and would commence interrogating them only after getting written replies from them. It may be recalled that after the merger of the EPS and OPS factions, chief-minister Edapadi K. Palaniswami constituted the Commission of Inquiry to probe Jayalalithaa’s mysterious demise.

Justice Arumuga Swamy is likely to return to Chennai from Coimbatore tomorrow (01st November) to kick-start the preparatory work relating to the inquiry.

The Commission has been given three months to complete its inquiry and submit a detailed report to the Government. However, as the inquiry process has not yet commenced, it is expected that the Commission might seek extension of time allotted to it so as to wrap up its inquiry.
