Justice Arumuga Swamy (Retired) would be commencing his inquiry into last Dsecembr’s demise under mysterious circumstances of former Tamil Nadu chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa by knocking at her Poes Garden residence in the first phase.
After a prolonged 75-day long spell of hospitalization at Apollo Hospitals (during when Hospital authorities painted a wrong picture of her being hale and healthy only to do a volte face on 04th December), ‘Puratchithalaivi’ Jayalalithaa was declared ‘dead’ by the Hospital on the midnight of 05th December, thus taking sincere AIADMK cadres and the people by shock and surprise.
Doubts were raised by several quarters about the mode of treatment given to the late leader as questions such as how she fell ill, what forced her hospitalization, why wasn’t she brought to the Hospital by the ambulance which always remains at her residence, who called the Apollo Hospital to send ambulance, etc. propped up. Chief-minister Edapadi K. Palaniswami set up a one-man Commission of Inquiry asking it to wrap up its investigations within three months and submit a detailed report.
Justice Arumuga Swamy has been allotted office at ‘Ezhilagam’ in Chepauk. The Judge has said that the first phase of investigation would commence from the Poes Garden residence of the late chief-minister from Monday (30th October). “It would be a open inquiry and nothing would be held back. Those who want to say anything on the issue could file it in the form of an affidavit at my office by 22nd November,” he said.
Data can also be provided by post, he added and concluded by stating that the investigation would be wrapped up within the prescribed time limit and a detailed report would be submitted to the Government of Tamil Nadu.
