The Justice Arumuga Swamy Commission of Inquiry would commences its investigation today into the mysterious demise of former chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa in December last year after a 75-day hospitalization at Apollo Hospitals during when the Hospital kept saying that ‘Puratchithalaivi’ was making good progress before saying ‘abruptly’ on 04th December that she had a heart attack and was battling for her life.

After her admission to Apollo Hospitals under mysterious circumstances (she was brought to the Hospital in the Hospital’s ambulance; what happened to the ambulance which is always kept at her Poes Garden residence is still not answered), Jayalalithaa was kept at the Hospital for 75 days during when her former aide and jailbird Sasikala, who reportedly had evil plans, didn’t allow anybody to come close to her.

Jayalalithaa’s demise sent shock-waves across the State and elsewhere and demands of judicial inquiry were made immediately by the people and party cadres.  OPS, incumbent deputy chief-minister, had put a pre-condition of setting up a Commission of Inquiry to merge with the EPS faction of the AIADMK. Chief-minister Edapadi K. Palaniswami then announced the setting up of the Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice Arumuga Swamy to probe the mystery behind Jayalalithaa’s demise.

The Commission’s office has been set up in ‘Ezhilagam’ in Chepuk which was inspected last week by Justice Arumuga Swamy. Rooms have been set-up with special audio-facilities so that the interrogation process is not overheard. Now that the work of setting up the office is complete, Justice Arumuga Swamy is all set to commence his interrogation from today to submit a report within three months.
