Junglee Pictures, who is known for their back to back blockbusters like Badhaai Ho, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Talvar, and Raazi, is gearing up to release a gripping thriller based on true events.
Junglee Pictures recently acquired the life rights to Jeevajothi Santhakumar in all languages and is currently working on a script based on her life and an incident involving a restaurant mogul P.Rajagopal V. who was accused of a crime that shocked the nation and resulted in a conviction.
The film will follow the rise of a rags-to-riches businessman and food enthusiast who built the world's largest south Indian food chain, which now has over 100 locations in 28 countries. Also, a family guy who was revered not only by his employees, but also by diners who adored the no-fuss, high-quality South Indian cooking served in his restaurants in India and around the world for his huge-hearted generosity.
A spokesperson from Junglee Pictures said “We are looking forward to bring this extraordinary tale to screen. This case was covered nationwide and even internationally, for close to two decades until it finally culminated in a landmark Supreme Court judgment in 2019. It is a story of ambition that got a man out of a poverty-struck village in Tamil Nadu to dizzying heights of global success followed by a series of shocking events and of Jeevajothi’s timelessly inspiring courage as she struggled for 18-years in the face of stupendous odds and continued to have faith in the Indian courts to deliver justice. This is a story that must be told, and we cannot wait to tell it".
Junglee Pictures roped in Famous screenwriter Bhavani Iyer to pen the script for this film. This film marks the second collaboration of her with Jungle pictures after the blockbuster film "Raazi". The official announcements on the cast and crew are expected to arrive soon.
