Julie came into the media limelight during the Jallikattu protests of 2017 when she spearheaded a group of protestors by fiercely chanting slogans against the ruling ADMK government. Rumours spread that she was attacked by political mafia but she released a video that she was safe.

The sensation helped book a berth fro Julie in the first season of 'Bigg Boss' hosted by Kamal Haasan in which she initially was the most favorite among the contestants but lost out to Oviya due to her immature behaviour. Post the show a few films were announced with Julie in the lead but none have hit the screens so far.

Julie was missing in the public eye for a few months but on New Year released a video in which she tries to emulate the famous Malar teacher song in the Malayalam blockbuster hit 'Premam' that had Sai Pallavi playing the famous role. Netizens are trolling Julie and especially the Sai Pallavi and 'Premam' fans are scathing in their attacks.
