Ahead of the theatrical release of 'Roudram Ranam Rudhiram' on March 25, its lead man Jr NTR has interacted with the Hyderabad media. In this interview, we bring out the highlights of what he said.
Highlights:
Each actor has got his strengths. The director knows them well. Playing Komaram Bheem and Alluri helped in the strengthening of my friendship with Charan.
It was non-stop learning during the production works. The interval sequence, which took more than 50 nights, was a memorable shooting experience. I was excited when I listened to it during the scripting stage. How Rajamouli was going to handle it was even more exciting to experience.
My fans and Charan's fans are prepared for us both. They are not expecting one actor to be more important than the other. Our cinema and audience are above such petty calculations.
Bheem and Alluri are perfectly-designed for me and Charan, respectively. There was no question of I and Charan swapping the roles.
Form and age are just... My grandfather was in his 60s when he did songs like 'Aaku chaatu..'. An actor should always be in his prime.
How did I bring my individuality to Bheem? As an actor, you feel a few things when you listen to the narration. I trawled for references from Rajamouli's narration. We didn't deep-dive into history too much. Rajamouli knows what he wants. If the actor gives an appropriate suggestion, he is ready to accept it. I always believe in having no reference in mind as an actor. When you have no reference, you are free to use the playground as you want.
Multi-starrers will become common after 'RRR'. Crossover movies, too, will be par for the course. A story like 'RRR' could not have been imagined by anyone else. There can only be one 'RRR'. The fact that two stars have done 'RRR' is itself a benchmark.
I and Charan have no scenes with Ajay Devgn. We have scenes with Alia Bhatt, though.
The last postponement was disappointing. We were excited to see the audience's reception.
Budget is a topic for the producer/director to talk. For an artist to be ready to do a multi-starrer, he needs to be confident about the story and director. I have the wish to work with everyone from Mahesh, Prabhas, Allu Arjun and senior actors like Chiranjeevi garu.
During the shoot, I was thrilled to watch Charan's performance was thrilling. At times, I would wonder if I can take a lesson or two from him.
'RRR' took four years. We were in action for only half the time. Three lockdowns ate up time.
