'The Cut', a New York magazine, had recently cast aspersions on Priyanka Chopra's marriage with American singer Nick Jonas. Columnist Riah wrote that Nick is in a fraudulent relationship against his will. "All that Nick Jonas wanted was a possible fling with Hollywood’s latest It Woman (referring to Priyanka, who had crossed over from Bollywood a few years ago), but instead he wound up staring straight at a life sentence with a global scam artist," the columnist wrote.
As soon as the article was out, there was much outrage in India. The magazine pulled out the article, saying that it didn't meet its editorial standards.
Two days later, the columnist has said sorry to the Bollywood actress. "I want to sincerely apologize to Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, and to the readers I offended and hurt with my words. I don't condone racism, xenophobia, or sexism. I take full responsibility for what I wrote, and I was wrong. I am sorry," she has tweeted out.
