Finally, the much awaited film has come and this is the debut venture of Naga Chaitanya. The film also marks the debut of Karthika and this was slated to be a proper youth entertainer. How true has it been to the pre-release talk, let us see.

Story

Satya (Naga Chaitanya) discontinues his education and comes from Vizag to Hyderabad. There, he comes to the MGM college which is known for its bad environment and a sequence of events happen which get him in conflict with the two major student gangs there. On the other hand, he has also got a love angle going with Nitya (Karthika), a teacher at school. The story takes a turn when the friction increases and Sathya decides to join the college. He does bring about some change but then there is a story behind this. Also, Satya is keen on ending the college's ties with Durga Rao (JD). What is that story? Is Satya successful in his objective? All this forms the rest of the story.

Performance

Naga Chaitanya gave a good performance. His dialogue delivery was effective and so was his dance and body language, he might have to work on his comedy aspect though. Karthika is tall, energetic and has a bubbly look but then she lacks the glamour or oomph like her mother. JD was elegant in his role, Sunil was excellent and got many laughs, Harshavardhan was okay, Hema was standard, Brahmanandam didn't have much to offer, Prakashraj was a show stealer, Sitara was simple and sweet. Others did their bit as required.

Technical aspects

The dialogues were sensible and not very loose, the script was written crisply and the screenplay was perfect. Music was a letdown as such and barring one song it was not that great. Cinematography was top notch, editing was neat, the costumes were trendy and the art department was alright. The production values were high.

Director's portrayal

The director came up with a good and thoughtful idea and he was able to present it well. Even his narration was good but then he should have focused more on the romantic track as that was weak. Also, there were times when one felt that something big was bound to happen but then the scene fizzles off. However, he was good at extracting performances and also maintained good pace which is very essential.

Critic's view

The film happens to be more of a message oriented movie. Though there were itsy bitsy places of laughter and humor, there was a sense of seriousness though it is made on a college backdrop. One can see traces of `Shiva' at few scenes and the film could have created better impact if the romance angle and comedy track was strong. However, it has got a very sensible and strong message to the audience, especially youngsters who are at a crucial stage of their life. Though there is not much for the mass audience the film will appeal to youngsters and parents of youngsters.

Verdict

Students and youngsters, watch it!!
