Jonathan Majors, the Emmy-nominated actor who rose to fame as Marvel's Kang the Conqueror, is out of the superhero spotlight. Following his domestic violence conviction, Marvel Studios confirmed they will not move forward with him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Majors initially captivated audiences as He Who Remains in 2021's "Loki," later reprising the role in Season 2 and "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania." With box office successes like "Creed III" under his belt, his departure leaves a significant void in the MCU's future plans.

He Who Remains was poised to be a major villain in upcoming phases, even slated for his own film, "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty." Now, the project's fate hangs in the balance, director Destin Daniel Cretton having previously stepped down due to scheduling conflicts. Marvel's decision on recasting remains uncertain.

Despite the turmoil, the "Loki" Season 2 finale left Kang's future open-ended. This isn't the first time Marvel has navigated actor changes – Terrence Howard's Rhodey was famously replaced by Don Cheadle within the Iron Man franchise.

While Majors' journey as Kang may be cut short, the MCU's ever-evolving tapestry awaits its next villainous architect. Who will step into the Conqueror's mantle? Only time will tell.
