Title - JOLLY BOY, Banner KM Films, Producer - K Manju, Screenplay, Direction - Sabapathy, Music - Yuvan Shanker Raja, Cinematography - Rana, Cast - Diganth, Rekha, Devaraj, Thara, Sudharani, Faisal, Shashikala, Sulochana, Master Amogh, Baby Bhavana, Jayakrishna and others.

Another remake of the week 'Jolly Boy' is a frame to frame from 'Pathinaaru'(16). Sabapathy in this Kannada version has not understood the nativity aspect and just put it as it is what he has done in Tamil film.

The film lacks in its narration and story is something very old. The responsibility before marriage for lovers is what stressed for the city bred youths. At the same time director Sabapathy lends something disgusting to the innocent brains in the village youths. The aspect in the flashback - getting pregnancy to avoid the clashes to gain her lover is not the right thought at all. At what age the director is giving such ideas is what most disgusting.

The happy go lucky Ganesh (Diganth) and Indusri (Rekha) oppose the objections to become life partners. They are very close and standing example for good lovers. Indusri mother hands over a book '16' to read for his daughter which she reads with Ganesh. It is a flash back story of Indu (Archana) and Gopi (Faisal) in the village. Gopi is a poor chap but a good friend of Indu. At one point of time Indu accepts Gopi as the right choice for her and she is very firm on her decision. This is what not tolerated by the upper caste family members of Indu. Even after facing all hardships in young age Indu takes some startling decisions.

For Ganesh and Indusri the point is where Indu and Gopi today. Indu is shown serving as a teacher for orphan children school. Gopi is none other than Indusri father Gopalaswamy (Devaraj). What decision Indusri and Ganesh takes up is a responsible factor indeed for the youths.

This is not a right kind of film for both Diganth and Rekha - they have very little to show their talent as the lengthy flash back is what loaded with many developments. Archana as Indu in the flash is a promising actress. Devarj and Thara are apt as parents.

Yuvan Shanker Raja fails to treat the Kannada audience with good tunes. The cinematography of Raana is impressive at places.

Responsibility is what lacking on the part of the director of this film.
