Johnny Depp's first look as controversial King Louis XV has been released by a French production house from director Maiwenn's historical love story "Jeanne du Barry". This is Depp's first film role since his highly publicised defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.
In the photo Depp wasa seen in regal clothing, an intimidating hat with white and curly locks. His eyes are covered with a black cloth, which signifies the king turning a blind eye towards his corruption. The actor has carried off out-of-the-box looks in his previous films like Edward Scissorhands, Pirates of the Caribbean, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to name a few.
According to report, "Jeanne du Barry" began filming in Paris and the Ile-de-France region, using famous locations such as the Palace of Versailles as backdrops. The title part is being played by Maiwenn, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Teddy Lussi-Modeste.
The story centres on Jeanne, a young woman from the working class who uses charm and intelligence to move up the social scale. King Louis XV, who is unaware of her reputation as a courtesan, notices her and falls head over heels in love. Jeanne relocates to Versailles, where her arrival scandalises the court, going against every propriety and manners.
