John Cena declared that he would be quitting professional wrestling in 2025, therefore ending his two-decade career in the ring. Cena said in a moving speech to WWE fans in Toronto on Saturday night that this would be his last season. While Cena promised a farewell tour with lots of dates and a huge final showdown, the audience voiced their dissatisfaction with boos. He reassured supporters that he will stay active with WWE, the company where his career started.

"Thanks so much for letting me play in the house you built for so many years," Cena said to the crowd.

Cena said in a post-event news conference that he feels physically "at my end," but underlined his continuous love of the sport.

Originally known as the "Doctor of Thuganomics," a rapper character fighting rap fights with his wrestling opponent, 16-time WWE champion Cena first became well-known in the early 2000s. He developed over time a reputation for several other identities both on film and in the ring.

Beyond grappling, Cena has starred in movies including ‘Blockers’ and ‘The Suicide Squad’. He has also appeared in recent hits like ‘Argylle’ and ‘Barbie’ and been a member of the ‘Fast & Furious’ series. Cena also guest-starred in FX's ‘The Bear's third season and will host Shark Week 2024 programming for Discovery.
