As Shoojit SircarÂs ÂMadras Cafe is waiting to hit the screens this Friday, the John Abraham starring action thriller has been banned in Tamil Nadu. The ban has been brought in by some pro-Tamil groups citing that the film has depicted Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in poor light.
Since ÂMadras Cafe has been facing protests from the State, the makers of the film had hosted a special screening few days back. However things didnÂt work in favour of the filmÂs release.
With a view to smoothen the situation, John Abraham sent out a statement to appeal to the Tamil audience. He stated, I would like to urge all of Chennai to support Madras Cafe as a film and release it as it is a credible film made with a lot of heart and gives audiences something novel to be entertained about, vouching and encouraging cinema.
Set in a war-torn island in the late 80Âs-early 90Âs, ÂMadras Cafe carries the look and feel of an international thriller with plenty of twists and turns on offer setting itself up as an intelligent entertainer. The film is slated to release this week, on 23rd Aug.
