John Abraham can't say it but Telugu actors can?

For the past few days, Bollywood actor John Abraham has been trolled heavily by Telugu cinema fans. The reason is this: he recently stated in an interview that he won't act in a Telugu film as he is a Hindi film hero. Here are his exact words: "I will never do a regional film. I am a Hindi film hero. I will never do a film as a second lead just to be there. I am not going to do a Telugu or any regional film like other actors just to be in that business (as quoted by India Today)."
Some Telugu cinema fans are offended by the remarks made by the senior Bollywood hero. They feel he has slighted regional film industries by saying that he won't do Telugu films.
For many years, Telugu stars have made similar remarks actually. There are instances where noted actors down South have said that they will do films only for their audiences. Were they insulting Bollywood or Hindi audiences by saying so? When Telugu actors say they will stick to their home turf, they are praised for loyalty to the Telugu audience. But when a Bollywood actor says that he will stick to his home turf, it's projected as if he has insulted southern cinema. Not fair!
