For the looks of it, 'Johaar' comes across as a political drama with a love story as a main element. Directed by debutant Teja Marni, the film's teaser is out.

Touted by the makers to be a "well-made political drama that is high on emotions with engaging visuals", the film has Ankith Koyya and Esther Anil playing lovebirds. Subhaleka Sudhakar plays a key role, while Naina Ganguly, Easwari Rao and Rohini are also seen.

The element of statue-building seems to be crucial to the political content of the film. Featuring largely unfamiliar characters as leading faces, 'Johaar' may well be having more than what meets the eye.

To be released on August 14 on the OTT platform AhA, the entertainer comes with the caption, 'History is a set of lies agreed upon'. The film has music by Priyadarshan, while dialogues are by Vamsi. With cinematography by Jagadeesh Cheekati, its lyrics are by Chaitanya Prasad.
