Title - JOGAIAH, Producers - Rakshita and Prem, Story, screenplay, direction - Prem, Music - V Harikrishna, Cinematography - Nandakumar MU, Cast - Shivarajakumar, Sumit Kaur Atwal, Ravishanker, Navya, Pooja Gandhi, Punga, Chandru, Praveen, B Ganapathi, Gururaja Hoskote, Hanumanthe Gowda, RGV and others. The film 'Jogaiah' billed as a mega one lack substance and falls below the expectations. The 100th film of superstar Shivarajakumar is not intelligently made but what hard work is seen is routine and not very much appealing. Director Prem with his wife Rakshita has also produced this film has not prepared a convincing screenplay. The issue of underworld don getting the leadership as proposed by the people is disgusting thought from the director. In the days of 'Anna Hazare' movement a sheet anchor rowdy is focused as leader that too in the 100 film shows the bankruptcy of the director brain. Director Prem has not been very alert with a talented actor like Shivarajakumar. The brilliance is not fed to the screenplay and dialogues are very harsh at places. A portion of what director Prem had dealt was seen in Upendra's 'Super'. The Karnataka politics handled in the film is also not interesting for the people because it is already seen in small boxes and read in the print media. For the 100th film 'Jogaiah' of Shivararajakumar the songs are brilliant, Shivarajakumar is very apt in the role but holding the audience attention - the work of screenplay has not happened. Jogaiah alias Mahadeva (Shivarajakumar) with a huge underworld background is leading a simple life in Northern Karnataka. He is in the house of Vidhya (Sumit Kaur Atwal) the bride all set for marriage. On the day of the marriage of Vidhya it is shocking news because the Karnataka Police arrests Jogaiah who is all set to go to Dubai with his three friends. When Jogaiah is brought to the court he is attacked by the people because of his past. Jogaiah is brought to Bengaluru by the higher up cop because he has several motives. The underworld in the name of Jogaiah is in hand with politicians and that is what disgrace to Jogaiah on his release. Jogaiah rule the underworld and he is feared for his fierce battle in the underground. The underworld legend Jogaiah this time does good job for the people from his dealings. Jogaiah becomes a nightmare for everyone living with double standards. The expected revenge on a dark night brings Jogaiah to the hospital. Miraculously Jogaiah escapes from the death bed. He says it is enough. He does not even accept the leadership and wishes to live with his long waiting Vidhya. The monotonous look and costume for Shivarajakumar should have been changed. Shivarajakumar in brilliant in emotions and there is nothing other than this for him. He does not even have powerful dialogues. He is projected here with 'Jogi' image. Sumit Kaur Atwal is not the right choice. A performing artist was required in her place. Lot of sundry actors never lives strong in the memory after you come out from the theatre. V Harikrishna is the winner from this film. The lyrics, compositions, costumes and locations are pretty good. A few songs linger in the memory. Nandakumar debutant in the camera has worked very hard. Some of the happenings are in dark and it is a competent job from the newcomer. In the song Odole....heads roll, legs are chopped...how come the censor board agreed for such shots. 'Jogaiah' falls flat for the poor screenplay and convincing script. Preethi Eke Bhoomi Melidhe, Raj the Showman and now Jogaiah...in a series director Prem tries to live on the music part with not enough good stuff in story and screenplay. Score - 5/10 |
