Jo Jo, Jyothika

Actress Jyothika is the talk of the town after her spirited (in more ways than one) performance in Chandramukhi.

In a movie dominated by Rajnikanth, this actress has been able to leave mark, playing a wife possessed by the ghost of Chandramukhi.

Obviously she is elated at the plaudits coming her way.

Jyothika says: "I am happy that I managed to deliver the goods. All credit should go only to Rajnikanth and P Vasu who motivated me to give my best."

Incidentally, Simran was supposed to be played the role initially. However she backed out at the last moment, which opened the gates for Jyothika.

"Veteran director K Balachander called up and appreciated me for my performance. Getting his accolades was a big morale booster for me," she informs.

"I have seen both Manichitra Thazhu and Aptha Mithra and I was moved by the extra-ordinary performance from both Shobana and Soundarya. I think I have given my best here", she adds.

"Initially I was offered the role played by Nayanthra. I eventually got the role of Chandramukhi for which I consider myself very lucky," she adds.

But her work in the film was not all about luck. It was more about pluck.
