Jio, Google announce launch of 'most affordable smartphone'

Thanks to Mukesh Ambani's Reliance and Google, the most affordable smartphone is on the cards. Named as JioPhone Next, it has been developed by Jio and Alphabet Inc.'s Google.
The makers today said that the handset has been designed keeping in mind India's hundreds of millions of first-time smartphone users.
Reliance today also announced a partnership with Google for 5G. Reports say that the JioPhone Next 4G phone will run an optimized version of Android. JioPhone Next will arrive in the market on September 10 marking Ganesh Chaturthi.
Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, wrote, "Excited to announce the next steps in our partnership with RelianceJio to accelerate India's digitization, starting with a new affordable Jio smartphone with an optimized Android experience, and a 5G collaboration between Jio & GoogleCloud (sic)." The smartphone will offer language and translation features, a great camera, and support for the latest Android updates, the CEO further said.
