Reliance’s Jio Cinema bagged the streaming rights for the Tata IPL 2023 and broadcasted the popular T20 cricket league free of cost to its users. Free IPL streaming has broken many records and now, Jio Cinema set a world record during the final match between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans.
IPL 2023 final, CSK vs GT, in Jio Cinema registered 32 million (3.3 crores) live viewers which is now the most concurrent views to a live-streamed event. The previous global record of Disney Plus Hotstar’s 25.3 million viewers in July 2019, was surpassed by Jio Cinema on May 29. It was unchallenged for a few years prior to the telecast of IPL 2023.
Earlier during IPL 2023, CSK’s matches achieved multiple 20 million+ live views owing to the legendary cricketer Dhoni’s stardom. The average streaming time per viewer per match has exceeded 60 minutes. Jio Cinema revealed last week that videos on the platform reached 1.3 billion views, shattering the previous world record.
