On Sunday, Jinesh Jerone 24 was riding his bike when he suddenly lost control and his friend Jagan riding pillion was thrown off but a speeding truck could not halt and ran over him. Jinesh whose body below his waist was crushed cried for help but no passerby on the Trivandrum highway stopped to help and by the time an ambulance arrived and shifted him to the hospital he was declared dead.
What is most ironic in Jinesh's death is that in the recent Kerala floods it was this same young man who was lauded as a hero for taking a boat along with six of his friends and saving almost a hundred people. Those who got saved by Jinesh made a silent procession to his small house to pay tribute but also lamented that no one did the same to him when he was lying in a pool of blood.
