On Saturday, the first look poster of the movie 83 was launched in Chennai, and the event saw the presence of Kamal Haasan who is releasing the movie in Tamil, cricket legends Kapil Dev, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, actor Ranveer Singh and the complete team of the movie.

The event had many interesting moments, and had actors Jiiva and Ranveer Singh performing Kamal Haasan's popular dance step and paying a tribute, and Ranveer revealing that his favorite Kamal movies are Appu Raja and Nayagan, and Kamal wishing the team all success.

When actor Jiiva who plays Srikkanth in the movie came to speak, he revealed a funny incident. During the shoot, the cast members had stayed in a 5 star hotel in London, and Jiiva tried to smoke a cigarette even though it is not allowed in the hotel, thinking that he can manage the hotel staff. However within seconds, the alarm in the hotel started making noise as it sensed smoke. Director Kabir Khan and the whole team arrived with the hotel management and Jiiva had managed to escape saying that he was smoking to practice the mannerism of Srikkanth. 83 releases on April 10.
