Actor Jiiva who was last seen in the cyber thriller Kee directed by debutant Kalees, will have his next release with Gorilla directed by Don Sandy, known for previously directing the fun entertainer Mahabalipuram.

The movie was initially supposed to be released on June 21, but now has been postponed to July 5. With just two weeks for release, the movie is now facing a new trouble, as Peta has voiced out asking people to boycott the movie.

Peta has condemned the casting of a real chimpanzee in the movie and has cited reasons like separating the primate from their mothers, violent abusing, despite short sequences in movies, animals will suffer for life, a legacy of harm being left, and also stated that the use of real animals is unnecessary and quoted examples like Planet of the apes and Jungle book which used CG animals.
