Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, 'Manikarnika' tells the story of the freedom fighter Jhansi Laxmibai. Its teaser is out.
High on Kangana Ranaut, who plays the titular role, it opens with Amitabh Bachchan's voiceover. Epic battle scenes are replete in this film that has rich costumes and is set against a royal backdrop. A woman leads women warriors.
From the heroine lunging for 'Azadi' to she chanting 'Har Har Mahadev', it's rich in nationalistic and cultural fervour.
Much is expected of Action Directors Nick Powell and Habib Riyaz. The phrase 'From the writers of Baahubali and Baagh Milka Baagh' (story and screenplay are by Vijayendra Prasad) is made clear.
Also features Jishu Sengupta, Suresh Oberoi, Danny Denzongappa, Atul Kulkarni, Ankita Lokhansde, Misti, Unnati Davera, Zeeshan Ayub, Rajeev kacharo, Nihar Pandya, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and Manish Wadhwa.
Produced by Zee Studios and Kamal Jain, the visuals are spectacular thanks to cinematographers Kiran Deohans and Gnana Shekar. Dialogues and lyrics are by Prasoon Joshi and Costumes are by Neeta Lulla. Music is by Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy (who are working on 'Saaho'). Original Background Music is by Sanchit Balhara and Anikt Balhara.
The biopic will head to theatres on January 25.
