Jenna Ortega on Protecting Wednesday Character: I Could Have Used My Words Better

Jenna Ortega recently addressed her remarks on changing lines for her character in Wednesday, noting she could have used [her] words better. In a Vanity Fair interview, Ortega considered her comments from Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast, when she acknowledged being unprofessional to let Wednesday Addams feel more real.
Ortega said, I most likely could have better described all of that using my words. Usually, I am quite a rambler. She said, I grew very, very protective of [Wednesday], but you can't lead a story and have no emotional arc since then it's boring and nobody likes you.
Saying, Women have to be princesses, elegant, classy, and kind... then when they're outspoken, they're seen as untamed and a mess, Ortega also talked about society's expectations on women. She said she felt like a caricature of herself since the media enhanced her podcast comments.
Ortega got a producer credit for the second season of Wednesday despite the negative reaction. She said, I know my standing as an actor. I know I'm not in command, but with someone like Wednesday in every scene, it seems logical for that person to be involved in what's happening behind-the-scenes.
Supporting Ortega's directness, series director Tim Burton said it was refreshing and beautiful.
Ortega has mentioned her will to advocate for herself on the Netflix series to The Hollywood Reporter. When I entered Wednesday,' I set my foot down and made it abundantly evident that everything I had to say mattered and was heard, she added. She now looks forward to a more cooperative experience with her second season producer job.
