After 10 long months, the theatres in Kerala reopened with Vijay's Kollywood movie Master, which has opened to massive responses from the audience. While the movie-buffs are waiting for a Mollywood release, the makers of Jayasurya's upcoming movie 'Vellam' have announced its release date.

'Vellam' which marks the second collaboration of director Prajesh Sen and Jayasurya, the movie will hit the big screen on January 22. Announcing the release date, the actor said in a statement that Vellam is “the most hopeful” film of his career.

Touted to be a relatively light-hearted family drama based on a true story, the movie will feature him in the role of an alcoholic named Murali. Vellam has Samyuktha Menon and Sneha Paliyeri playing the female leads. Actors Siddique, Indrans, Byju, Sreelakshmi, Priyanka, Johny Antony, Edavela Babu, Vettukili Prakash, Nirmmal Palazhi, Santhosh Keezhattur, Sivadas Mattannur, Jins Bhaskar and Baby Sreelakshmi are part of the cast, which also has the presence of many newbies.

Bankrolled by Josekutty Madathil, Ranjith Manambarakkatt, and Yadhu Krishna, the movie is shot by Roby Varghese Raj and edited by Bijith Bala. Music is by Bijibal.
