A day ago, we had reported that Jayasurya's upcoming movie Sufiyum Sujathayum produced by Vijay Babu will have a direct release on OTT platforms amid lockdown. Reacting to the decision of producer, Film Exhibitors Federation President Liberty Basheer officially declared that no movies of actor Jayasurya and producer Vijay Babu will be screened in any Kerala theatres in the future.
“Theatres in Kerala are shut for 67 days till date. Movies that were already released in theatres can be streamed online. It is not an injustice. But when the whole film industry, including theatre owners, artists and other workers are facing a crisis amid the lockdown, some people are taking their movies to another platform. It is cheating towards the entire film industry,” criticized Liberty Basheer in an interview with Mathrubhumi.
He further added, “The Film Exhibitors Federation will boycott them. We will challenge everyone who will support Jaysurya and Vijay in this issue." He also said that he won't compromise even if any superstar decides to have a direct digital release.
‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ directed by Naranipuzha Shanavas stars Jayasurya and Aditi Rao in the lead roles. Produced by Vijay Babu under the banner of Friday Film House, the movie is currently in the post-production phase and is expected to release soon on Amazon Prime Video.
