The unfortunate death of Jayasudha's husband Nitin Dwarkadas Kapur has shocked many, including those worried about the increasing depression-related suicide rate.
However, sections of the media insinuating that there is foul play behind Kapur's death has left a bad taste. Taken aback by the falsification of half-known facts, Dr. Mohan Babu, one of Jayasudha's well-wishers and respected colleagues, has requested the media to respect her privacy.
As per police accounts, Kapur was in a state of depression for at least 1.5 years. He was even taking psychiatric help at Kokilaben Hospital. The deceased was living at his sister's house in Andheri West. He went to the 6th floor of the building, broke the lock of the terrace's door and leaped to death in a shocking manner! The body has been sent for post-mortem.
Nothing suspicious has been found by the police, which gives the lie to irresponsible media sensationalism.
Aged 58, Kapur married Jayasudha after falling in love with her as a Dasari Narayana Rao protege, in 1985. He has been described by the police as a jobless person for 18 years.
