In an unfortunate turn of events, acclaimed director SP Jananathan of Iyarkai, Ee, Peranmai and Purambokku Engira Pothuvudamai fame had passed away yesterday after being in critical care for few days and suffering a cardiac arrest yesterday.

Following the sudden demise of SP Jananathan, many directors, actors and celebrities rushed to pay their last respects to the director and turned emotional, sharing their thoughts about him as well as their memories with him.

Actor Jayam Ravi who had acted in Peranmai directed by Jananathan said "Jananathan is like family. None of our family functions will be without his presence, he was a brother more than a director and always was a wellwisher for me. This is a huge shock for me. I pray for his soul to rest in peace. Above all I haven't seen a best person than him ever. He left us so soon and it's saddening. People who know Jananathan know what I mean. He'll be with us always, and through his films he'll continue to live on. There's no match for him now and I don't know if there will be someone coming closer to him ever. It's a blessing that I traveled with him till now, he taught many things to us, actors and directors and it'll remain with us always. His thoughts will live on and he'll be blessing all of us from above".
