'Thani Oruvan' is one of the most brilliant action films ever made in Tamil cinema by the celebrity siblings Jayam Ravi and director Mohan Raja. The duo announced a sequel to the iconic movie with a special video in 2018 on its third release anniversary. But the two have been busy with biggies including 'Ponniyin Selvan' and 'Godfather'.

Now, it is reported that Thani Oruvan 2 is all set to commence after a long wait. According to sources, the test shoot for the highly anticipated project is happening in Chennai tomorrow and the film's launch is likely to be officially announced on 28th August 2023, the eighth release anniversary of the first part.

Reportedly, AGS Entertainment produced the first movie and will be bankrolling the sequel as well. Jayam Ravi will reprise his role as IPS Mithran while it is yet to be seen if Nayanthara is returning as the female lead. Arvind Swami played a deadly villain but his role ended in the first part.
