A landline telephone number has been included in the inquiry into the mysterious demise of former Tamil Nadu chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa to enable people to inform whatever they know about the demise of ‘Puratchithalaivi’.
Former chief-minister, referred to fondly as ‘Amma’ by party cadres and the people, was declared ‘dead’ by Apollo Hospitals, Chennai on 05th December last year after she remained hospitalized for a prolonged period of 75 days during when medical bulletins spoke of her improving health condition before the bulletins did a ‘volte face’ and said she suffered a cardiac arrest late on the night of the ill-fated 05th December, 2016.
After demands for judicial inquiry into her demise under mysterious circumstances gained momentum, the EPS-led Govt. set up a Commission of Inquiry (COI) headed by Justice (Retd.) Armmuga Swamy, which commenced its investigation recently. Justice Swamy had said that those wanting to inform the COI anything about the demise can send their written information by 22nd November.
In order to maintain ‘secrecy’ and ‘anonymity’ about persons giving such sensitive information, the Judge has now announced that those wanting to inform anything to the COI in this regard can do so over landline phone # 044-2581 3599. Advocate Niranjan has been appointed as a legal advisor to the Commission.
