Expelled from AIADMK in the aftermath of its R.K. Nagar by-poll defeat, Dinakaran's ardent supporter Vetrivel (who once vacated R.K. Nagar for enabling former chief-minister Jayalalithaa to get elected from the seat) has moved the High Court of Madras seeking anticipatory bail in the issue relating to leaking the 'Jaya treatment video' a day ahead of polling in R.K. Nagar.
As it turned out, it was a 'master stroke' which made the electorate in R.K. Nagar feel that Dinakaran and his aunt Sasikala (now in a Bangalore prison) took good care of the former chief-minister during her 75-day long stint at Chennai's Apollo Hospital from September to December last year before she was declared dead on the night of 05th December. Dinakaran won the R.K. Nagar by-poll by a huge margin and by defeating both the AIADMK and the DMK.
Amid allegations that there was foul play by Sasikala's family members in Jayalalithaa's demise, Vetrivel released a 20-second long video of Jayalalithaa (many say that it wasn't Jayalalithaa but a morphed video) taking rest at her Hospital bed at Apollo. Polling officer of R.K. Nagar Praveen Nair got a case registered against Vetrivel at the New Washermenpet Police Station for violating the existing code of conduct for political parties.
After it became apparent that the police might arrest him in connection with the above-said case, Vetrivel moved the High Court of Madras seeking anticipatory bail to pre-empt his arrest.
