The one-man Commission of Inquiry (COI) headed by Justice (Retd.) Arumuga Swamy, which is probing the mysterious circumstances which preceded last December's demise former Tamil Nadu chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa, has issued summons to R.K. Nagar’s newly-elected MLA Dinakaran, Krishnapriya and Jayalalithaa's former personal assistant Poonkundran to appear before it to depose in the case.

As reported earlier, Jayalalithaa was declared ‘dead’ by Apollo Hospitals, Chennai late on the night of 05th December last year after 75 days of hospitalization during when the Hospital issued conflicting medical reports about the late leader’s health.  The then AIADMK faction led by O. Panneerselvam demanded setting up an inquiry commission to probe Jayalalithaa’s demise.  The COI was constituted in September after the factions of AIADMK merged to form the original AIADMK.

Justice Arumuga Swamy Commission, which has its office at ‘Ezhilagam’ in Chepauk, Chennai, had called for filing of affidavits by those willing to depose on their own.  Govt. doctors, Apollo doctors, other doctors who treated her, former State Chief-Secretary Sheila Balakrishnan and Rama Mohana Rao were summoned earlier.  Vetrivel, a supporter of Dinakaran, was also summoned to depose before it.

Summons have now been issued to Dinakaran, Sasikala’s sister-in-law Ilavarasi’s daughter Krishnapriya and Jayalalithaa’s personal assistant Poonkundran to appear before the Commission within seven days and depose besides providing the video evidence with them in connection with the case.  Krishnayapriya would appear before the Commission next Tuesday (02nd January).  Poonkundran has also been asked to furnish a list of servants/maids who were employed at the Poes Garden at the time of demise of the former chief-minister.
