Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar are two of the biggest screenwriters of Bollywood and during their epic collaboration in 70s and 80s, they penned down several iconic films like 'Andaz', 'Zanjeer', 'Sholay' etc... In a recent interview, Javed Akhtar talked about his teammate Salim and shared why he considers him as his guru.
In a recent conversation for Bollywood Bubble, Salim's son Arbaaz asked Javed whether he feels bad about Salim Khan's career not being as illustrious as his own. Javed replied, "I can only respect him. I cannot sympathise with him. He’s too big for me. Arre inka nahi ho raha… yeh toh main soch bhi nahi sakta. For me, he’ll always remain a big man. It is below his dignity that I think this way.”
Javed also credited Salim for imbibing a sense of courage in him and teaching him how to write screenplays. He said, "Whatever little screenplay I know, I have learnt from him. Language aati hai mujhe, language main bahut achi janta hun, dialogues main likh sakta hun kaise bhi. Usme mera jo confidence hai, mera jo arrogance hai, voh totally justified hai. Mujhe screenplay nahi aata tha.
